We want you to completely relax and enjoy the tropical
climate here in the real Spain
so here are a few places to visit during
your stay
Guadalest:(1 hour 15 minutes by Car)
This pretty village is set in the mountains but it can get very
busy during the tourist season. It has spectacular views, a beautiful
blue lake/reservoir, history & now
it even has a solar powered boat giving quiet rides on the lake.
There
are so many photo opportunities thank goodness for digital cameras
so you won't run out of film!!

The Solar Powered Boat (Barca Solar) can be found by going out
of the village in the direction of Callosa. About 1k along
the road follow the left-hand turn that says Embalsa then a
further 2k and you will see the sign for Barca Solar.
We couldn't find a timetable for the boat but it seems to leave
on the hour (not guaranteed). The journey round the lake lasts
about 50 minutes and costs 5Euros per person (summer 2009).
I have since found this
site which has more information about the boat on it.

N.B.
Please be aware that at the moment food & drink is not
available to buy on the boat so do make sure that you have at
least a bottle of water with you. |

The views in every direction are magnificent ranging from
the mountains to the colour of the water.
The boat is silent because it uses solar power
and we are re-assured to know that it is also unsinkable (where have I heard that before??). |
|
The boat ride takes you right round the edge of the lake and
we saw birds darting around catching food. If you look up you
will see Guadalest from an angle that most people don't usually
see it from.
